BATANGAS CITY FIRE STATION SPORTSFEST 2019

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” - Helen Keller

Had the American writer lived through the modern times of say, Michael Jordan, she would have been credited to the cliche — “There’s no ‘I’ in TEAM.” This idea of doing mightier things alongside others has been around since time immemorial. And the Batangas City Fire Station (BCFS) took the privilege of celebrating this wonderful idea of oneness and togetherness through sports.

What better way to celebrate the combined abilities and efforts of the BCFS than for sports enthusiasts, coaches and even those not-so-into-sports personnel to get together and participate in the annual sportsfest dubbed: “BATANGAS CITY FIRE STATION SPORTSFEST 2019.”

February 23, 2019 was indeed a productive day for the BCFS family. Several activities which included basketball, billiards, swimming, darts and bowling were carefully lined up to provide invigorating opportunities to showcase skills and talents of your BFP team. Everybody was nothing less than ecstatic and energized to give it a go.

Displaying superb athletic skills and stunning team play, your BFP personnel lived up to a much satisfying image of sportsmanship. All present witnessed how each and every one worked as one. What used to be idle suddenly came to life. And those hidden talents proved nothing but impressive.

It may occur once in a while but when such sporting events come, one can only remain amused whether actively participating in the activities or joyfully cheering from the stands. Truly, what matters most is the establishment of good camaraderie and the strengthening of working together.

The celebration was commenced by the parade of colors followed by a brief program.

A prayer led by Fire Aide Winona Sheila A. Kalalo gave the sporstest its much needed divine guidance. This was followed by an opening remark by the City Fire Marshal CINSP ELAINE BAYLON EVANGELISTA, that undoubtedly sparked inspiration among the participants.

Four mighty teams competed for the highly coveted title of Overall Champion. These teams were named, CENTAL A, CENTRAL B, POBLACION FIRE SUB STATION, and the AMBULONG FIRE SUB-STATION.

Central A (Shift A) was declared the Overall Champion closely followed by team Central B. Ambulong and Poblacion finished 3rd and 4th respectively. Aside from the individual awards, the teams received substantial cash prizes.

The SHELL Talaba Facility at the PSPC Compound Tabangao Ambulong, Batangas City was the venue of this year’s event.
